No matter which part of the world you live in, you are always judged by your looks. Your family, friends, relatives, co-workers, everyone comments on your appearance and makes you feel like crap and behave like nothing BIG happened.
But deep down, it hurts. We may show to others that we damn care about their opinion. But how can we lie to ourselves? Let’s face it today. It hurts, girls!
When someone talks about our facial features, skin complexion, height, weight, or overall personality, it hurts when they bluntly gossip about or make fun of us. But this is only a statement from one human to another human.
Now, let’s see, how our Rab talks about us in the Surah At-Tin:
لَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ فِىٓ أَحْسَنِ تَقْوِيمٍۢ٤
Indeed, We created humans in the best form.
You know, what did our last prophet, Muhammad ( Peace be upon him ), say about superiority in his last sermon? He said: “All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over black nor does a black have any superiority over a white except by piety and good action.”
Now answer this: Who are the most influential personalities in the Muslim community? Allah Subhanwa’talla and Hazrat Muhammad (Peace be upon him). Right?
So, what they have said about beauty and superiority is the only thing we should care about. After these two statements, it doesn’t matter anymore what other people say about us.
Definition of Beauty in Islam: Know your worth
Allah Subhanwa’talla, The Al-Musavir, is beautiful, and He loves beauty. As stated in this hadith:
“Verily, Allah is beautiful, and He loves beauty. He loves the loftiest of affairs and disapproves of pettiness.” Source: al-Mu’jam al-Awsaṭ lil-Ṭabarānī 6906
According to Islam, a woman’s beauty lies in knowing her worth. A woman who knows her worth and doesn’t need beauty validation from others. A woman with a strong character who is educated about her religion and rights. A woman who can differentiate between what is wrong and what is right.
A woman’s strong personality makes her attractive. If you know what you want from life, you have a clear vision for it, and you make life decisions differently from others.
In this guide, you are now heading towards 07 actionable techniques that will make you beautiful and calm inside out!
Embrace and accept yourself
First thing first, let’s accept ourselves the way Allah Subhan’wa Talla has created us. He has created you in the best shape, color, and size. You are beautiful inside out. You don’t need to alter your face or body through surgeries.
The way you are or look makes you unique. Like your name is unique, the same way you are unique. You are you, and no one can become like you. Anyone can copy you, try to become like you. But they can’t be the “Inner you.” Keep up with your uniqueness!
Be unapologetically authentic
Be who you are. You don’t need to change yourself for anyone. If you think, you’ll transform yourself from head to toe, and people will start liking you. This is not the case, my friend.
People’s standards change with time. They’ll never be pleased with you. Don’t become a people pleaser anymore. Please yourself. Please your Creator. This is the thing that matters the most.
I used to be a slim, trim girl in my teenage years. When I was growing my business, I started gaining weight due to hormonal changes.
My friends and relatives began saying things like, “You don’t look good anymore,” “You should lose weight,” “What happened to you,” etc.
In the beginning, I ignored their comments. But after some time, their continued comments bothered me. One day, I talked to myself and asked if I had gained much weight. Am I looking ugly? The answer was, “No”. My body was not feeling unwell.
Then, I started replying to everyone logically: “I am grateful to Allah that I’ve got a healthy body. I don’t have any disease. And I am in the best of my health. It’s okay to be healthy sometimes. Women’s hormones change every month. I will be back in shape. Don’t worry about me.”
Be Mindful to your soul and body
You don’t need to listen to people about what is right or wrong for you. Know yourself. You should know what your body and soul need. You should be mindful of your spiritual, mental, physical, and emotional health.
Your soul needs peace. Peace comes with Allah. Connect with Allah. Follow daily obligations, do zikr Allah, recite Mushaf daily, and recite morning and evening azkar to protect yourself from evil spirits.
Your mind needs to be calm and clear. Declutter your mind from negative thoughts. Journaling is the best way to achieve this. Write a diary to be clear and calm.
Your body speaks to you. Listen to it. Are you not feeling well in your body? Lose or gain weight, and vice versa.
Be mindful of your emotional health. Excess of anything needs to be corrected. If you see intensity in emotion, find the root cause and try fixing it.
Balance the Deen and World
This world is a test for us. We have access to everything, the good and the bad. Allah Subhan’wa Talla makes everything accessible for all of us to see what we do and how we protect ourselves. Do we choose religion or this materialistic world? Do we choose eternal life or temporary life?
He tests us with luxury and poverty, with good things and bad things. The one who is mindful and who has studied Islam deeply will pass this test and win Jannah in Akhirah.
While living this life, we shouldn’t forget the afterlife. Try to balance this life and the afterlife. Make wise choices every day. Prioritize Islam over every worldly thing.
Remember, you are answerable to Allah and not others. When you fear Allah, you will not be afraid of anyone anymore.
Self-grooming is self-love
Do you think you should change your behavior? Is your behavior bothering you or your loved ones? You should work on it.
Self-love is acceptance of your beauty and flaws. It is also self-love to change yourself for good, but only if you think you should change that specific thing in you.
If you are under-weight and you feel low. You feel you should gain some weight. Go for it! If your overweight makes you uncomfortable, lose your weight.
You think your skin or hair needs attention? Give it. Work on yourself. When you work on your body, you automatically feel happy.
The ultimate beauty secrets
Do you know what makes you beautiful? Your confidence. Be confident about yourself. Confidence comes with knowledge. Study about this world, Islam, humanity, psychology, health, fashion or any topic that is interesting for you.
Do you know what makes you attractive? Your smile. You become attractive when you put a big smile on your face and talk nicely with everybody.
Self Love is sanity
Love yourself. Embrace yourself. Know yourself. These are the three mantras that you need to remember to live the best life. You know, it is you at the end who has to survive in all circumstances. You will be with yourself when nobody will be with you. Make sure you take care of yourself at all times.
Do whatever you want to do within the boundaries of Islam. There is only a Khair (good) for you in Allah’s boundaries.
Final Verdict
Islam has given a princess life to Muslim women. Don’t exploit yourself in this materialistic world. Know your worth and work on yourself. Your competition should be your old version only. Be better every day. Forgive and forget yourself for all the mistreatments you have to bear to date.
Work on yourself and be a strong Muslimah who knows her worth, position and who doesn’t settle for less in life.
