Ramadan 2025: everything you need to know to enter this blessed month

Updated February 3rd 2026

I read somewhere this weekend that it’s amazing how Ramadan always approaches when our hearts need it the most. I could not agree more, as this is a fact.

Ramadan is not just a regular month where the focus is on iftar and suhoor. It is a deeply spiritual month filled with blessings in the unseen realm; which later manifests into our temporary home. It is also scientifically proven that fasting cleanses our body and teaches us patience.

Muslims around the world fast, and many are called back to Islam by Allah Himself (SWT) during this sacred time (often through hardship or a light push). Ramadan is also the month when the gates of Jannah (Paradise) are opened, and the gates of Jahannam (Hellfire) are shut; preventing the souls of Muslims from entering during this month (just be on your best behaviour `before` Allah and repent daily).

Not only are the gates of Hell closed by their gatekeeper, Malik, but Allah (SWT) also saves many Muslims from Hellfire during this month. While we have not yet reached our final destinations (Jannah or Jahannam), in a realm beyond our understanding, Allah has already completed this important task.

Our human minds cannot yet fully comprehend this, which is why He (SWT) frees people from Jahannam during this time. As you now know, this month is incredibly significant and will also bear witness for, or against us on the Day of Judgment.

Patience

During and the month before Ramadan, we are all heavily tested with patience. Patience is an art. Think of it like sitting in a waiting room at the doctor’s office, waiting for your name to be called; your turn of relief. Similarly, Allah wants us to wait for rewards.

The rewards manifests either in this temporary life, the hereafter (Akhira) or both. How patient can you get for your Lord, the Lord of the worlds and your Creator, to reward you— simply for waiting, remaining calm, and repenting for your shortcomings?

You would certainly wait for your doctor and plan ahead, knowing it might be a long wait. Matter fact, you´d take time off work or school just to see the doc.

I dislike using worldly affairs as examples in these conversations, but we are humans (simple, yet so beautiful) and its useful for illustration (forgive my ignorance lol). Note that we can use worldly examples to paint a picture. I learn a lot too when its explained as if I was a kid.

Likewise, Allah rewards us just for being patient—whether it’s dealing with a difficult neighbor, challenging family members, financial struggles, the loss of loved ones, health/aging issues or other hardships. He (SWT) never forgets His servants, especially those who continue to have faith despite their difficulties.

One thing is for sure; Allah never leaves you. He (SWT) is always near—closer to you than your jugular vein. It is we who leaves, then forget about Allah. Allah is the One Who brings us back and we `should` be grateful for this key mercy. So be patient and think positively.

Our beloved Prophet (SAW) was tested immensely, even before he was born. He lost both of his parents, all but one of his children (who passed away after him), several of his wives, and many companions. He was persecuted by the Quraysh, stoned, falsely accused, and faced countless trials. The Prophet (SAW) endured a life full of tests.

Allah tests the prophets the most, then those closest to them in character, and then those who resemble them in righteousness, and so on. He (SWT) tests those whom He loves the most, but He also guides, provides and protects them the most. Ultimately leading to higher ranks in the Akhira (remember, this is the goal).

If you are going through struggles, do not lose hope. This is a sign that Allah loves you and is drawing you closer to Him—a true blessing. He (SWT) never tests you with more than you can handle. He already knows you will pass the test. And guess what? Allah rewards us for enduring difficult times while remaining patient.

Allah states in the Quran: “I am as my servant thinks I am.” This means that however you perceive Allah—whether good or bad—that is how He (SWT) will manifest in your life.

Don’t forget that Allah tests us to bring us closer to Him—a gift in itself—and to prepare us for greater blessings. Allah never stops blessing His servants, especially those believers who have yaqeen (certainty) in their hearts. This is why He (SWT) tests you so much. Some of your hardships might be the very reason you are granted Jannah. So, smile in times of difficulty and thank Allah.

Additionally, each time you think of Allah, it means that He (SWT) is thinking of you. So, make duaa or perform a good deed whenever you remember Him (SWT).

Remember that we´re dealing with Allah SWT. Do not limit Allah to our simple way of being and thinking. Yes, you are powerful and yes, you should think good of yourself. However you should always remain humble before Allah and His creation regardless of what you embody.

Think HIGHLY of The Majestic Allah SWT, our Lord. Express your love for The Majestic Allah SWT before Him, with humility.

Charities and Zakat

Charity work is essential in Islam at any time of the year. It is a great act of worship because you give from what Allah has provided for you; your sustenance. Muslims believe giving is the fastest way to become rich, while withholding is the fastest way to become poor. Stinginess has no place in the heart of a true Muslim for many reasons.

One simple reason stands out: Allah is the one providing for us through the means (jobs, family, strangers etc)!

I have met people who remind you of what they did for you or take advantage of you after helping you. In reality, they aren’t giving for the right reasons. Their intentions are disguised because they expect something in return. When you give as a believer, it must be for the sake of Allah and without expecting anything in return.

Speaking of intentions, whatever good we release in this world has to be with pure intentions. Even when I write about Islam or share what I know by the will of Allah, I have to check myself. Am I writing for validation from certain people, myself only or to benefit from Allahs bounty?

We have to ask ourselves these questions! The true enemy; shayateen, are always working overtime against Allahs servants, so must we (the servants of Allah).

When I write, it is also a reminder for myself.

Muslims are also rewarded for simply thinking of doing good. Any act of good is considered charity. This is `one` of the reasons why Muslims are some of the best people gracing this Earth.

Charity comes in many different layers wrapped around pillars. It´s not just about the money we must give. Our actions toward others are considered and written down as charity as well. Then Allah multiply each good deed; thats a lot of hasanat! The mercy of Allah is grand.

Forget about what you gave and continue this beautiful and healthy cycle. One day, you may give unknowingly with good intentions; through that act, you might build a foundation that becomes the reason you are granted Jannah as your eternal home in the real life; the Akhirah.

Your zakat is calculated based on what you “earn”. It is a specific percentage of your annual income and is given during or after Ramadan. Please check with your local mosque for specific details regarding zakat. If you haven’t been able to save up this amount, do not despair; Allah is indeed the Most Merciful. Give from whatever you have and whatever you are able to.

Remember, you are giving for the sake of Allah—not because you owe anything to anyone. Give with pure intentions!

Duaa and worship

Seeking to communicate with Allah is a gift. Being able to talk to Allah every day when you wake up and before you go to bed is a huge blessing. Although we might not vocally hear Allah replying back to us, its still largely rewarding.

We know that Musa (AS) was the prophet who spoke directly to Allah (what an incredible honor), but we can also communicate with the Lord of the worlds and our Creator at any time of the day, as long as we are alive.

Duaa doesn´t always involve asking for things; rather, it can simply be a way to call on Allah into your presence. However Allah loves when we ask Him for good, so ask for goodness for the Muslim brothers and sister you don´t know, those you already know and yourself.

Remember, we are the ones who need Allah— not the other way around. Just writing this gives me goosebumps; so exciting!Allah truly is our only source of -everything- in this examination hall we call Earth.

During Ramadan, while you are fasting, at any time of the day— MAKE LOTS OF DUA! You have no idea how incredibly powerful this month is. Every duaa made during Ramadan is accepted by Allah. Every single one.

As long as your supplications are good and beneficial for you/others, Allah accepts them. He knows what you need and even what your heart has yet to express— so be prepared to receive (and to give) in this holy month.

Your daily obligatory prayers are important every day of the year, but especially in Ramadan. Perfect your prayer, learn and memories your surahs, and make the holy scripture—THE Quran—your closest companion this upcoming month. If it´s not too late, consider asking for some time off from work or school so you may focus 100% on your deen without distractions.

Iftar and Suhoor

I haven’t mentioned food as much in this article. Ramadan is not about eating and filling your belly. Ramadan is a deeply spiritual month, and food is just for survival. Besides, you will likely eat for only five minutes during iftar and/or suhoor before feeling full.

I´ll just write it flat out: we live in a world where genocide have been normalized by those in power. Let´s redirect the focus to help feed them during Ramadan. They´re not all Muslims, but we have a duty as Muslims, regardless of their religion. Don´t forget to check in on your Muslim brothers and sisters if you can.

We also fast in solidarity. Food is survival, a necessity right? A large number of Allahs creation doesn´t have access to nutrition or clean water. Ought for this type of solidarity to occupy our mind, a lot more than consuming during Ramadan.

That being said, a message to the men in families who may come across this post on the big SEO: please help your wives, sisters and mothers prepare food. If you´re a man, you should be fully capable of cooking.

Everyone must know or at least learn how to cook— it is a basic survival skill. Do it with ease, without waiting to be asked. Help your wives, sisters and mothers, and Allah will reward you immensely for your efforts.

For those who may not be able to cook everyday for 30 days, plan ahead. Write down a list of halal restaurants near you or create a weekly meal-plan, meal prep and decide which days you prefer to order takeout or eat at mosques/gatherings.

The true essence of Ramadan is its spirituality. I am always grateful for the food Allah provides, but at the end of the day, food is just a means of survival— we have to eat to live.

In conclusion, I pray that all believers who are blessed to witness another Ramadan, will enter with ease. I pray that Allah accepts our fasts and helps us navigate this holy month with strength wrapped up in softness, masked with patience.

I pray that all our tests will build us kingdoms in the eternal Akhirah and that our deceased ancestors will be forgiven, relieved from any potential suffering and granted Jannah this very month. May all our duas and salah be accepted.

Most importantly, may Allah accept our good deeds , the fasting this Ramadan and forgive us for those we neglected in the past. May Allah make us among and resurrect us with the sabiqoon. Allahumma Amiin!!

With all this being expressed … Ramadan Kareem to everyone! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ I love you all (even if you´re hard to love :p), for the sake of Allah.

We are painted as losers in this life, so may The Majestic Allah SWT welcome us as the winners in the next life. Allahumma Amiin. 😉 🙂 :p
