New Year´s Eve countdown 👇
The new year is just around the corner, and with it comes the chance for a fresh start. Like many others, I’ve always felt inspired by the “new year, new me” mindset. It’s not just about resolutions for me—it’s a chance to grow, improve, and reflect on life.
To embrace this opportunity, focus on setting clear intentions rather than overwhelming yourself with unrealistic resolutions. Ask yourself: What do I want to change or enhance? How can I create habits that align with my goals? Whether it’s health, career, or relationships, take small steps that build toward long-lasting change.
Transformation doesn’t happen overnight. Celebrate your progress, no matter how small, and keep moving forward with purpose. Making 2025 your year is about creating a life that reflects your values and dreams.
In this article, I present 8 points that could potentially improve the upcoming year for you.
The Unique Perspective of My Birthday
Growing up, birthdays didn’t hold much significance in my life as we don’t celebrate them in Islam. For years, my January 1st birthday was just another day—except for a few memorable moments when friends and loved once planned dinners, travels etc. My birth date was found “too perfect” to believe during my entire childhood, it was so wired.
Once, classmates speculated that immigrants were just assigned random birth dates, which stayed with me. No one in my local area had the same unique birthday as me. I’d get excited whenever I heard about others born on the same date. I grew up in a small town in Norway after immigrating to the country. Years later, I posted my birth certificate on social media for a good laugh. The lesson? Let go of others' ignorance, focus on yourself, and you´ll always have the last laugh.
Your story might not involve a unique birthday, but the takeaway is universal: don’t let others’ misconceptions define your narrative. Instead, embrace your individuality and use challenges as opportunities for growth. And when they challenge you to grow, don´t thank them. Thank Allah because He sent them your way to improve and prepare you for something extraordinary.
Discover Your Talents and Start a Hustle
One of the best ways to make 2025 your year is by tapping into your talents and turning them into something meaningful—perhaps even profitable. Your talents are the natural skills and abilities that come easily to you, while your passions are the activities or causes that excite and motivate you. When you combine the two, the possibilities for growth and fulfillment are endless.
Start by reflecting on what you’re good at and what you love to do. Maybe you have a knack for writing, art, or fitness. Perhaps you’re a great communicator, a skilled organizer, or a natural problem-solver? Think about how these abilities could meet a need or provide value to others. For example, if you love fitness, you might create workout plans, start a YouTube channel documenting your journey, or even launch a personal training business. If you enjoy writing, consider starting a blog about your passion, freelancing, or publishing an e-book on a topic you’re passionate about.

A side hustle doesn’t have to be massive or perfect at the start. Begin small—devote a few hours a week to learning, experimenting, and growing your idea. The key is to remain consistent and intentional. Surround yourself with resources and communities that can guide and inspire you. Whether it’s taking a course, networking with like-minded individuals, or using social media to share your journey, invest time in developing your craft.
Your talents and passions are more than hobbies—they are tools to create the life you envision. By nurturing them and finding ways to share them with the world, you can easily turn 2025 into a year of purpose, growth, and success. Let this year be the one where you stop doubting your abilities and start building your dreams.
Embrace the Beauty of Aging
Aging isn’t a curse—it’s a gift. Unlike the societal fear of growing older, I’ve always looked forward to getting older, wiser, wealthier and stronger. Embrace each new year as an opportunity to learn and grow mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Every year is a step closer to becoming your best self.
"Aging isn’t about what you lose; it’s about everything you gain in the process."
With every birthday, you gain experiences that shape your perspective and build your resilience. Society might push the idea that youth is the pinnacle of life, but true fulfillment often comes with the confidence and clarity that develop over time. As you age, you better understand what matters to you and what doesn’t. You become more intentional, prioritizing quality over quantity in every aspect of life—from relationships to ambitions.
Instead of lamenting the passing years, celebrate them. See each one as a chapter that enriches your story. Aging is a testament to your endurance and growth, a symbol of the lessons you’ve learned and the obstacles you’ve overcome. Welcome the process with open arms, and let it remind you that life isn’t about staying the same—it’s about becoming more of who you’re meant to be.
Don’t Let Men Define Your Worth
"Never let a man’s insecurities shape your confidence. Stand tall and reclaim your narrative."
Sadly, I’ve come across men who tries to diminish women based on age or societal expectations. One man I used to know even claimed women lose value as they age—a reflection of his insecurities, not reality. My advice? Never let anyone, especially a man, define your worth. When I ended that friendship, his wounded ego couldn’t handle it. Stand firm, trust your instincts, and always put your well-being first.
Your worth is not tied to anyone else’s opinion, least of all outdated or misguided beliefs about gender or age. Unfortunately, societal norms often empower some men to impose their insecurities on women, attempting to diminish their confidence with baseless narratives. These opinions say more about their fragile egos than they ever will about you.
In 2025, commit to living life on your terms. Define your value by your achievements, your growth, and the love and respect you show yourself. The opinions of others—especially those rooted in insecurity—do not deserve a place in your narrative. Remember, the person best equipped to determine your worth is you.
Decenter Men and Prioritize Yourself
In 2025, let’s decenter men from our lives. Men often lean on women for validation or ego boosts, but we don’t need that energy. Focus on building yourself up, nurturing your own goals, and embracing independence. Travel, invest in yourself, and channel your energy into becoming the best version of you.
Never allow a man to dictate your value based on arbitrary standards. You are inherently worthy—valuable simply because you exist. It’s essential to remind yourself that no romantic relationship, societal expectation, or passing comments can strip you of your dignity. Stand firm in who you are and what you believe, even when challenged by (some) men´s limited perspectives.
When confronted with disrespect, prioritize your well-being above all else. Walk away from situations (or him) that attempt to undermine your self-esteem. Setting boundaries with these people isn’t just an act of self-preservation; it’s a declaration of self-respect. Your instincts are powerful; trust them when they signal that something or someone isn’t serving your best interests.
Focus on your growth, achievements, and happiness.
Oh, and most men feed off the energy of women. You’ve probably heard men say things like, “Why don’t you smile more?” or demanding that you smile. This isn’t because they genuinely want to see your beautiful smile. No! It’s because they feed on your energy. This applies to the majority of this species. It’s all about them taking from who you are—your frequency.
Men need women; it’s rarely the other way around. Don’t just give your energy away to anyone. This world is full of different spirits, many of which are wounded and have never healed. Let me spell it out for you: KNOW YOUR WORTH.
Set Boundaries and Focus on What Matters
To make 2025 your best year yet, start by setting firm and intentional boundaries. Boundaries are not about keeping others out; they are about protecting your peace, energy, and priorities. They clarify where you end and others begin, giving you the freedom to focus on what truly matters in your life.
"Boundary-setting is a declaration of self-respect."
When you set boundaries, you communicate your values and self-worth. This might mean saying “no” to obligations that drain you or distancing yourself from relationships that don’t serve your growth. Remember, respecting yourself is the first step to teaching others how to treat you. It´s your life, you decide who get to be in it.
People’s opinions, ignorance, or disrespect do not define your value. A key to thriving is to stop internalizing the noise around you. Instead, channel your energy into the things that align with your purpose and bring you joy. Be unapologetic about prioritizing your well-being, because living authentically is the ultimate act of self-care.
Boundary-setting is not always easy—it can feel uncomfortable or even confrontational—but it’s a powerful way to honor your needs. Over time, you’ll find that setting boundaries not only protects your peace but also strengthens your relationships with those who truly value and respect you. As you enter 2025, focus on creating a life that aligns with your values, and let everything else fall away.
Take Life Seriously, But Don’t Forget to Relax
Life is a delicate balance between purpose and play. To make 2025 truly remarkable, embrace the importance of taking your goals and personal growth seriously, but don’t lose sight of the joy and relaxation that keep you grounded. Treat your ambitions with care. Remember that overworking yourself can lead to burnout. A fulfilling life is one where effort and ease coexist.
Taking life seriously means being intentional about your time and actions. Set clear goals, honor your values, and prioritize what truly matters to you. This requires focus and discipline, but it also demands trust—specifically, trust in Allah’s plans. Life’s journey is unpredictable, and while you can set the course, it’s essential to lean on your faith during moments of uncertainty. When challenges arise, remind yourself that Allah (SWT) sees the bigger picture. Trust in His wisdom and mercy to guide you through even the toughest trials.
That said, seriousness doesn’t mean you have to live without joy. Relaxation, laughter, and connection are just as vital to your well-being as hard work. Build time into your routine for self-care, hobbies, and quality time with loved ones. Celebrate your wins, no matter how small, and savor the present moment. When you trust in Allah and commit to both your goals and your peace of mind, you position yourself to thrive.
In 2025, aim for a harmonious blend of ambition and contentment. Take your dreams seriously but hold space for life’s joys. The long game is worth it, not only because of the results you’ll achieve but because of the peace and fulfillment you’ll experience along the way.
Strengthen Your Relationship with God
Lastly, make 2025 the year you prioritize your relationship with Allah. Trust in Him fully, rely on His wisdom, and watch your life transform. As He (SWT) says, “Be,” and it is. It´s that easy for Allah, so why are you stressing? Relax and believe.
Embrace the opportunities that 2025 offers. Focus on personal growth, set boundaries, prioritize yourself, and strengthen your faith. Oh, and forget about men for a full year. Focus solely on pouring into yourself and watch how the end of 2025 transforms for you. You’ll be amazed—and perhaps, you might never feel the need to go back to being with one.
